Youth Reporting Center Programming Options

Youth can be referred to more than one program.

Shoplifting - 3 days - Misdemeanor Only - Participants explore the consequences of shoplifting on everyone involved (victims, family, and community). Statistics, handouts, activities and discussions are going to help the participant open up about why they stole and realize who all was affected. This course will be completed in between 2-3 hours. The youth will be required to write a letter to the victim(s) of the theft. A guest presenter of a retail store will come and talk/answer questions on the third day.

Thinking for a Change (T4C) - 8-12 days - High Risk Youth (3 or more substance tickets, High BOT level) - High School Students Only - Thinking for a Change (T4C) is an integrated, cognitive behavior change program for offenders that include cognitive restructuring, social skills development, and development of problem solving skills. T4C is designed for delivery to small groups in 22 lessons and can be expanded on to meet the needs of specific participant group.

Anger Management - 3 days - Middle School - Each Youth will be provided with a workbook for Anger Management and Conflict Resolution. They will work through scenarios and learn how to handle anger and conflict in a more constructive manner. High School - There is five parts to this session. Each youth will watch 5 short videos with topics including: Anger management, Conflict Resolution, Communication, Stress Management, and Decision Making. The group will discuss the videos and current situations in our area to make it more realistic for the participants.

Let's Talk - (1-12 days) Middle School - The Lets Talk curriculum has modules including: Communication and Listening, Adolescent Development, Personal Influences, Peers, Families- Roles and Responsibilities, Anger Management, Stress Reduction, Drugs & Alcohol, Internet Safety and Fun, and Future Life Planning.

Alternative to Suspension (ATS) Tobacco - 1 day - Misdemeanor Only - The youth will have open discussion about their use of tobacco and learn about the harm tobacco has as well as research chemicals found in tobacco.

PRIME for Life - (Substance Abuse - excluding Tobacco) - 5 days Ages 15+ (or) 12-14 with previous completion of Alcohol Wise or Marijuana 101 Cost is $60 - PRIME For Life is an alcohol and drug program for people of all ages. It is designed to gently but powerfully challenge common beliefs and attitudes that directly contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug use. The program goals are to reduce the risk for health problems and impairment problems. Youth will complete a self-assessment of their substance choices. Class size is recommended at 5+.
